Dropping Gems is proud to present the debut EP of our newest crewmembers, the Olympia-based duo Ghost Feet. The four tracks held within lay out a pretty convincing argument for the existence of supernatural beings, specifically ones that haunt the undersides of dead leaves or the tops of pine trees. The young duo combine the talents they’ve come to be known for through live performance, with Hobbes employing a range of drum machines, synthesizers and gritty sonic textures to build a framework for Qloq’s eerie guitar melodies. Their respective talents coalesce on Wires and Chords into a tight spectrum of tempos and moods. Some tracks bubble with the energy of ghost children during recess at midnight elementary school (“Pull Ups”), while others contemplate ancient laments as old as the land itself (“Bog”). We’re gratified to share this EP with the world, both for the tracks themselves and the suggestion of what’s to come.

Wires and Chords is available as a free download and limited edition cassette tape over at our Bandcamp.

Tracklist:
1. Top Papez
2. Car Pool Time
3. Bog
4. Pull Ups
5. Siq 20 (DJAO Remix) CS Only
6. Pull Ups (Slug White Remix) CS Only

In preparation for his forthcoming full-length, Dropping Gems presents resident brain-in-a-jar Citymouth’s Holodecker EP, a five track selection of new and unreleased material. Fans of his live show will recognize several reliable classics, but for the rest of the world, these tracks are an intro to the development of one of our crew’s finest.

The Holodecker EP represents an early sampling of the current satellite-relay transmissions we believe to be authored by reclusive beat-futurist Citymouth. Held within these 5 tracks are the ancestral memories of wars fought between robo-tribes (“Fingercrampz,” “Planetsquat”), miracles beheld between bulkheads (“Sepakulive”), love baked between transistors (“Holodecker”), and docking procedures choreographed between ships which have long since dissolved into the endless rings of space debris that encircle our planet (“Nimbusfloor”). The pace alternates between frenetic and contemplative, depending on which chemicals your spacesuit nutria-tube is currently feeding you. You try to turn the knob but it’s covered in grime. You expect to hear ticking but instead perceive beeping. You’re blazed in the habitat ring. You vaporize as Earth becomes a distant memory inscribed in grease upon the plate-metal wallpaper. Five tracks later you reassemble, subtly altered, and try to decide whether you’ll press rewind.

Holodecker is available for free download and limited edition cassette tape over at our Bandcamp.

A-Side:
Fingercrampz
Holodecker
Planetsquat

B-Side:
Sepakulive
Sliding Down Rainbows (Nimbusfloor version)
CS only bonus: Holodecker (Brownbear version)

Dropping Gems is proud to announce the compilation album Gem Drops, our sixth release. As a central goal of the project, 100% of the revenue from Gem Drops will be donated to the American Cancer Society to support cancer research.

We’ve assembled 21 tracks of amazing new material that expresses everything we love about experimental electronic hip-hop-inspired music today. We went to those we trust: friends, family, and artists from all corners of the U.S. who push boundaries and infuse their work with heart and soul. Gem Drops brings together a diverse array of styles, but remains focused on spotlighting the kind of future-sound sensibility that makes modern music worth listening to.

The album is available as a ”name your price/donation” download on our <a style="color: #8f9eff;"href="http://droppinggems.bandcamp.com/album/gem-drops">Bandcamp page. We also have a very limited run of handmade CD’s with artwork available for those who donate $15 or more.

Dropping Gems is proud to present GEM005, the long awaited release of Bone Rock’s full-length album EARS. Countless hours, records, and MPC chops have gone into this 24-track jazz-infused exploration of hip hop’s future, the defining statement in a discussion that began with the release of the “Bone Rock EP” in 2010. EARS represents a highly personal journey through the spiritual connection between people, their instruments, and their natural surroundings. More than half the tracks pay tribute to influential artists that, in their own way, have spoken to this connection and explored its contours themselves. The end result is a prismatic reflection of music’s past & future as seen through the basement laboratory windows of the present. Head-crack snares included on most beats.

Handmade limited pressing CD’s with artwork by Bone Rock and digital download available now on Bandcamp.
